Ghostlight Setting and Lore

I want to discuss the setting of the college and the town, but as of now, I’m still awaiting clearances. Naming locations can be tricky. Using real-world places poses legal and creative risks; altering details to fit your narrative can prevent conflicts. Fictional names require verification to avoid coinciding with real places or existing fictional works.

The primary setting is the performing arts college, esteemed for its alumni, including famous actors, directors, and producers in theater and film. For some, it’s where you go when you can’t get into Julliard. Despite its reputation for being haunted and the superstitions among students and faculty, there's no overt paranormal activity. Not overtly.

Much of the school year revolves around preparing for and staging plays. From scene painting to acting, the entire school participates, fostering rivalries, jealousies, and competition that sometimes lead to alliances or dark outcomes.

The town is a small New England fishing village for most of the year, inhabited by the expected quirky and crusty New Englanders. Typical college-town interactions occur, including love-hate relationships. During summer, the population doubles as it transforms into a vacation spot akin to Provincetown, Massachusetts. Wealthy individuals own summer homes along the beach, and seasonal shops, restaurants, and galleries emerge.

The town also boasts theaters where college students vie for roles, hoping to attract the attention of Broadway producers, Hollywood agents, or affluent patrons. However, beyond the college superstitions, both the town and the summer residents harbor their own secrets and mysteries.
